INFO FOR WEDDING GUESTS

LOCATION

The Barns are a Grade II-listed stone building in the heart of Eryri National Park (formerly Snowdonia), beside mountain, river and lake – the ground will be un even, it will be windy – it will rain – please dress/pack accordingly, more info can be found in the FAQ's

To find us - turn into the main campsite entrance off the A498 (there is a big green Campsite and Barns sign at the corner as you turn in) and follow the road down past the Barn, turn left at the cattle grid and look for the Wedding Parking sign.

Traffic on the A498 can be slow and it is busier at weekends so please allow plenty of time for arriving, parking, and settling into your glamping tent if camping.

Arrival and Parking

We have very limited parking space so please do car-share wherever possible.

The car park is a short walk on some potentially rough ground. Accessible parking can be arranged - please get in touch if you require this.

Please park as close as possible to the next car and please be prepared to be blocked in or notify the staff (or the guests helping with the parking arrangements) on arrival if you will need to leave.

The top of the Barn field is reserved for campervans – please locate Trish, Dave or an amazing Fellowship volunteer on arrival and we will show you where to go.

Vehicles are not permitted on the camping fields.

TAXI's

If you will need a taxi to take you from the Barns to local accommodation, please do book one as far in advance as possible. The venue recommends Taxi Arfon in Llanberis.

Glamping:

Glamping tents will be set up ready for your arrival from 2pm on the Friday. Your hosts will be in touch to arrange payment and check if you require bedding or if you're bringing your own.

Llyn Gwynant pagodas are the only marquees allowed, as we must protect underground services.

We have limited spaces for Campervan/caravan/motorhomes –  please talk to the hosts to arrange this. We also have some electric hook up points available in the fields and it is helpful for us to know in advance if anyone needs one.

No driving on fields

There are plenty of sockets inside the barn buildings for charging up batteries/phones, etc.

No electrical cables to be used outside without proper arrangements.

No fires, bbqs or fire pits on the grass - please use concreted area near picnic benches

No candles, flares, fireworks, straw or hay bales are allowed anywhere.

The barns and camp field are not serviced areas – we must leave them in tidy condition, floor mopped, with rubbish in bins, and glass, cans, paper and plastic separated for recycling.

Saturday – wedding day – all alcohol to be purchased on site.

FACILITIES/GETTING READY:

Both the indoor and outside toilet facilities will be open throughout the weekend, so if all indoor toilets are busy, please head outside to the block in the carpark to avoid queueing in the foyer: it is a small room and access is needed here by the catering and venue staff. Spray sanitiser is available for use on sinks, taps and surfaces, please help yourself and leave bathrooms how you would wish to find them – please inform staff if there are any problems. There are three additional showers and toilets in our ‘outdoor bathrooms’. There are mirrors and sockets for hair dryers, etc, in the indoor bathroom corridor and on the first level upstairs in the Tall Barn. We have an iron and ironing board available if needed, please ask a member of staff.

Guests can also use the bathroom facilities at the public campsite, which is only a couple of minutes’ walk away (either down the lane or over the fields).

FIRES/BBQS/SMOKING AREAS:

A campfire and BBQs are allowed on the terrace/patio areas, but not in the barn field to avoid any damage to the ground. We have cigarette bins outside each Barn door, please dispose of all cigarette ends in these containers.

Food:

Outside of the wedding day, guests are welcome to use the Kitchen barn for making breakfasts, etc. But you must clean up after yourselves – and before the caterer's arrive. The adjacent public campsite has a catering stall/bar (Gwynant Cegin) which offers breakfasts/hot and cold drinks from around 8am. In the evenings there is a pizza oven and burrito bar although these can get busy over the summer and other holiday periods with long queues. The nearest small grocery shop is in Beddgelert, about 6 miles away.

Food safety is the responsibility of barn users or contractors; please be careful, hygienic and safe.

BAR AND DRINKS:

Food and drink is not permitted during a legal ceremony and the Bar can only open once any registrars have left the site. If arrival drinks are offered, please finish these before the  ceremony.

Please note that the Bar can accept CARD PAYMENTS ONLY and last orders is at midnight. As part of the licensing regulations, all alcohol should be purchased from the Bar on the days when it is open (Saturday), so please do not bring your own alcohol into the buildings on the wedding day other than pre-agreed corkage drinks. On the days when the Bar is closed, guests can bring their own alcohol to drink.

CONFETTI:

Natural only please e.g. petals and leaves. Plastic and paper confetti (even the biodegradable type) is not permitted on site.

NOISE, STAYING UP AND SECURITY

Please keep noise to a minimum on the camping fields to show consideration to other guests and our neighbouring public campsite. Please note that drones, radios, stereos, etc, are not permitted outside at any time. Unamplified music such as acoustic guitars are allowed outside until 11pm, after which any singing and playing should be inside the buildings please.

Guests are welcome to stay late inside the Barns once the Bar is closed and the music has finished, but please keep voices down when leaving the buildings as other guests and some of your camping neighbours will already be sleeping. Quiet time at our adjacent public campsite is 11pm so we must avoid any noise disturbance.

Please remove all valuables from the Barns overnight: most doors will be locked but the kitchen door usually remains unlocked so that you can access the indoor bathrooms and kitchen and we can’t take responsibility for any valuables left overnight. Our night staff will be on site until after the bar has closed: please let them know if there are any problems and reduce your volume if requested to by staff.

Security during your stay is your responsibility,  any valuables are left in the barns at your risk. Gwynant Ltd takes no responsibility for any loss or damage for valuables left on site.

OVERNIGHT:

It can be very dark on the fields and around the outside bathroom block so you will need a torch or lantern for moving around the site during the hours of darkness.

Weather:

The weather can change quickly due to the mountainous location, please pack suitable clothing for the duration of your stay.

MIDGES:

Can be an issue if it is a still day, so be prepared with insect repellent (this can be purchased from the small shop on the main campsite a few minutes’ walk away) and keep the outdoor bathroom doors closed and the internal lights off to avoid attracting insects.

THINGS TO DO:

Canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards (SUP) can be hired from the riverbank on the main campsite and there are lots of walking opportunities nearby. You can find opening times by visiting the boat hire section of the website. For more info on the local area click here

Departure

Your hosts (The Bride and Groom) are responsible for clean up – anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated. For example please make sure all areas are clean, tidy - including any pots/glassware used during your stay and dispose of all rubbish and recycling in the bins provided. There are large general waste and recycling bins in the wooden enclosure near the main gates.
